Winter camping doesn't mean giving up comfort! Just a short walk from your campsite, you'll find our heated washroom facilities, complete with hot showers and toilets, available 24/7.
A dry toilet is also available even closer to your campsite for added convenience.
Tips for making the most of your winter camping experience
Don't hold it when nature calls
When you need to go, don't wait! Holding it in can make you uncomfortable and distract you from staying warm. Even in the middle of the night, it's better to make a quick trip to the washroom than spend the rest of the night feeling uncomfortable.
Dress in layers
Layer your clothing and adjust it according to your activity level. The goal is to avoid sweating, as moisture can quickly make you feel cold. If you start getting too warm, remove a layer before you overheat.
Keep your extremities warm
Your hands, feet, and head are especially vulnerable to the cold. Pack warm socks, insulated boots, quality mittens, a neck warmer, and a toque. If you start overheating during an activity, adjust your hat, gloves, or other layers to help regulate your body temperature.
Eat well and stay energized
After physical activity, it's easy to underestimate how much energy your body needs. A hearty, nutritious meal provides the fuel your body needs to generate heat and stay warm. Eating enough is essential for maintaining your energy levels and keeping the cold at bay!
Stay hydrated
Staying hydrated is essential for helping your body regulate its temperature and function properly in cold weather. Since cold temperatures can reduce your sense of thirst, remember to drink water regularly throughout the day. A wide-mouth water bottle is a great choice for winter camping, as it's easier to manage if ice begins to form.
Herbal teas are also an excellent way to warm up while staying hydrated. Watch for signs of dehydration, such as dark urine, fatigue, and headaches.
