Le sentier des Lucioles
Where nature nurtures body and mind
20/06/2025
Over the past few decades, numerous scientific studies have highlighted the benefits of spending time in nature for both physical and mental well-being. Inspired by these findings, we launched this project with one goal in mind: to give everyone the opportunity to enjoy a restorative experience in nature, right here at Chalets Lanaudière.
To bring this vision to life, we obtained therapeutic forest certification from the International Society of Nature and Forest Medicine(https://www.infom.org/), an organization dedicated to promoting scientific research and awareness of the health benefits of nature.
Le Sentier des lucioles has been specially designed to help you discover these benefits for yourself. This self-guided trail features eleven interactive stations, each with informative signs to guide you throughout your experience.
Take your time, explore at your own pace and reconnect with the natural world around you. Each station introduces a different forest bathing practice, creating a peaceful, engaging and rejuvenating experience for both body and mind.
Stretching one kilometre, the trail is accessible year-round and thoughtfully designed to be inclusive. Interpretive signs are positioned at a comfortable height for wheelchair users and children alike.
To make the experience even more accessible, an audio guide is available via QR code, allowing you to fully enjoy the trail without having to read the signs.
How can nature benefit our physical, mental and cognitive health?
- Nature is full of microorganisms that help strengthen our immune system.
Simply viewing natural scenery can boost brain activity—especially in areas linked to emotional regulation and empathy.
The gentle fascination evoked by nature helps restore attention and reduce mental fatigue.
Natural sounds, such as birdsong, stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, helping us relax and recover from stress.
Silence in nature allows the brain to “clean house,” flushing out proteins linked to mental fatigue.
Exposure to natural light supports hormonal balance, improves sleep quality, and boosts overall mood.
Nature can boost:
- Immune system function
- Sleep quality
